About Us

About the band

Calling Beech Grove, IN home, the band of five took its name from the famous Cab Calloway sing-a-long.

The spirit of that song is the foundation for the loose, fun atmosphere that is an evening with the band.

With a song list that leans on classic 70’s rock, the sets also contain plenty of dance, audience participation and ballads, that keep the dance floor full all night.

Never tied down to a set list, the evening can take twists and turns to flow with the crowd. It’s all about the audience having fun and enjoying a night of classic rock tunes that are sure to rekindle good memories and make new ones.

band bios

Vince "Vinnie" Kinman

Vince Kinman (Lead Vocals) Coming a long way from singing the National Anthem before high school games, Vince is the consummate front man and focal point of the band. Singing songs from AC/DC to James Brown to Chicago, his biggest strength is connecting with the audience from the first note and keeping everyone in party mode. After a successful run with the Time Travelers, Vince took some time off, before forming the Moochers.

Brian Schafer

 Brian Schafer (Keyboards,

Guitar, vocals)

With 5 decades of experience, Brian is a walking history lesson in the Indy musical landscape. With a list of band mates and stories too numerous to mention, Brian played with Boss Tweed, The Brian Schafer Band, and in 1989 formed Ricky and the Rowdies, an Indianapolis institution that still plays to large crowds. His vast catalog of songs, storytelling, and good time vocals are just a few of the things that keep the band and crowds in a party mood.

Kim Linn

 Kim Linn (Drums, vocals)

Kim brings to the Moochers over 30 years of experience playing with many groups throughout Central Indiana. Kim's Musical tastes are well diverse and he brings a great deal of ideas for the Moochers to expand its music in the months to come.

Richard Hettenvan

Richard Hettenvan (Bass / Vocals) Richard has been a professional musician for more years than he wants to (or can) remember. In his years as a musician, Richard has been a member of several local bands in and around the Indianapolis area including Webb, Nicky and the Blades, Five Easy Pieces, Sun Trace, Boss Tweed and The Thunder Brothers. Richard has also toured with several national acts including The Coasters, The Drifters, The Platters, Maxine Nightingale, John Ford Coley, Tony DeFranco, Gallery and Al Wilson.

Jeff Miller

Jeff Miller (Lead Guitar)

Jeff Joined the Moochers in early 2019. His influences in music began back when listening to Creedence Clearwater Revival played through the house. Jeff played in a High School band back in 1976 and he had no doubt in his mind at that point on he was going to play music. In 1994, Jeff played original music throughout the Indianapolis Area. Jeff played with one of Vinnie’s first bands in its original form with John Rogers called the Time Travelers. He will as the newest member further increases our diverse list of music we bring to our shows.
